Why not use a traditional scale?

A scale alone doesn’t tell the full story. It only reports total weight — not whether changes are coming from fat, muscle, water, or training adaptations.

During the early weeks or months of exercise, you may build muscle at the same rate you lose fat. This means your weight might stay the same even though your health, strength, and body composition are improving significantly.

A body composition scan helps capture the progress the scale can’t.

Disclaimer: Body composition tools like the scale and InBody can be helpful, but they aren’t for everyone. We also support non-diet and non-scale-victory approaches to improve your relationship with food, support body image, and build sustainable habits.
